Soccer
Soccer isn't a boring sport, but it isn't one of the more exciting ones. The fact that there is major league soccer in the US means that there are enough supporters of the sport, but I don't think it will ever be on the same level as basketball, football, or baseball in America. The sports we watch are a direct reflection of what we value and what we find entertaining. Americans like fast pace, contact, and high scoring sports. Soccer is none of the three. There are times when there is some excitement, but it is a very small portion of the long game. The only time I ever see high-lights from soccer games is if there is some sort of fight or some flagrant foul, because those are two things that people may find exciting about the game. It takes much skill and endurance to play, but it also takes much patience and knowledge to watch and enjoy. I would challenge someone to name 5 major player in the MLS, cause I know I couldn't. I found it interesting how the hype of Beckham coming to the league made some question the popularity of the sport, and believed that he would bring more fans. Maybe he will, but I don't think it would be enough to take any attention away from the other big sports.

I def. agree with what you are saying, and it's sad that not all of the professional sports get as much attention because they are not in your face contact. I'm a soccer player and I have to admit, it is hard to sit down and watch a game because it can be boring. Playing on the other hand is way more fun!
there is no way soccer will ever be as popular as other big sports..who likes sitting around for 4 hours and seeing a final score of 1-0..or maybe a 1-1 tie..
